December 1, 2009Mission 6 is all about overcoming AA. Aproach anxiety. Before I get into the mission, my take on approach anxiety is that it is something that I will never not have. My goal is to find a way to manage it. As the author Neil Strauss says, “it’s less a fear of approaching than a fear of rejection”.

November 24, 2009I don’t have time for a full overview of Mission 6. But it’s about approach anxiety. This is definitely something I have. Sure I’ve beaten it in some situations, but certainly not all. Not most in fact.
Mission 4 Field Test Report and Party Time
November 16, 2009To re-cap, the field test for Mission 4 was to approach 3 women and ask for a menswear store recommendation. I had a tough time finding both time and targets for this during the work week. But over the weekend I had a chance to go to a fun house party.
Mission 4 Overview
November 9, 2009The field test for this mission involves talking to women. The mission is titled “Ask an Expert”. The task: Ask three women to recommend a cool local clothing store that carries menswear. When successful, write it down (I’m guessing I’ll be going there). Just to be clear, the full rules are that I need to ask this from at least three women, but I need at least one answer. So if the first three don’t know, I keep trying.
Mission 2 Complete!
November 5, 2009It’s funny, I got quite different results. I don’t know if it was the deeper eye contact or simply different individuals.
Mission 2 Field Test – Conversations 3-5
November 5, 2009The final 3 conversations for Mission 2 were somehow MUCH more promising than the first two I chatted up for this mission. I’m both liking this mission but also wondering if I would have talked to these people normally. I’m leaning towards no; I think these missions are working.
