Changing My Style

December 7, 2009

I took Mission 5 very seriously and enlisted the services of style and dating professional, Maria The Date Coach. While the items in Neil Strauss’ book are good, it still leaves a lot up to one’s own interpretation and sense of style. With things like this, an impartial third party (especially a professional) will have suggestions specific to you. Additionally, if you’re trying to attract females, why not find out from them directly what they find attractive? It’s a no-brainer. But it is going to take a lot of balls not to act like a man. (You can quote me on that…no, you should quote me on that. That was clever.)

The Consultation
Maria takes a look a the whole package and formulates a plan. There are areas where I need less help (fitness, professional development) and areas where I need more help (cosmetics, cologne, fashion, and more). Already she dictated that I write up 10 goals for 2010, use a teeth-whitening product, and to prepare for a thorough makeover. Ack!

spaWhat’s On The Agenda

  • Clothing assessment – Taking inventory
  • Hair style consultation – With a professional
  • Hair styling – Sounds like I might get some color too. Umm, who’s idea was this?
  • Manicure – Never had one but I hope to put the “man” in manicure.
  • Pedicure – I don’t even really know what these are honestly. Something to do with a brand of dog food.
  • Facial – Whatever, I’m resigned at this point. Do what you will.
  • Shopping – This one I actually look forward to. I need new clothes anyway.
  • Wingwoman – After all these style changes, the plan is to hit the bar scene. As I write this, it makes me nervous. The bar scene is tough for me. I don’t know if you’ve been paying attention but so far all my interactions have been during the day or at a friend’s party. No bar approaches/interactions yet. But it’s part of the game, a part I need to work on. So I’m thinking open mind, no expectations, and just have some fun!

I never even considered going this far with this project when I initially started. But I’ve had a change of philosophy lately that’s only generated positive results. As Maria says, “Well kept men attract well kept women”.

I like to make fun, but some of these things (like the hair) I’ve considered doing. Here’s my push to do it. I’ll update over Twitter and report back when it’s over.
